What types of animals do you care for?

Happy Tails Transport cares for animals ranging from cats, dogs, horses, chickens, rabbits, livestock, fish, etc. If you don’t see your animal on the list, please reach out to us to talk about if we can provide your requested services.

How do you deal with aggressive dogs?

The safety of our staff is our main priority in the case of aggressive dogs. If it is a situation where we feel that our employees are at risk of injury, we will inform the client that our relationship will not be a good fit. However, in the case of a dog who may be less confident, shy, or does not prefer attention, etc., we may still be able to provide services depending on their needs. Each situation is individual and will be handled differently. If you need services and have concerns about your dog’s behavior, you should contact Happy Tails Transport to discuss options.

Do you administer medications?

Yes. We train each employee how to properly administer medications so that even animals with medicine can be cared for while their owner is away.

Do you offer overnight appointments?

We do not offer overnight appointments; however, we are happy to do a late-night drop-in/potty break before bedtime and then return early in the morning for another visit.

Do I need to provide waste bags?

It will not be necessary to provide waste bags. Our employees will come prepared with waste bags to use that will be provided by Happy Tails.

Do I have to have a meet and greet?

Yes, it is necessary that every new client has a meet and greet with us. There are many benefits to doing a meet and greet. Here, owners will have the chance to meet one or two members of our team members, ask any questions, or answer any of our essential questions as well. They will have the opportunity to show us their pet’s routine in detail to ensure we know how to care for their animal while they’re away. It is also an excellent time for your pet to get to know us and make sure they will be comfortable with us entering your home.

Is the meet and greet free?

Yes, the meet and greet is free of charge.

Will I always get the same sitter?

At Happy Tails, we work as a team, so we cannot guarantee the same pet sitter every time. We operate a busy schedule and cover multiple towns in our service area. Not all of our employees will be working every day of the week, and in the case that one employee can’t make it to your home, we need to be able to send another team member. Rest assured that each employee will have proper training before being sent to care for your fur family.

Can I meet with every sitter before they are allowed access to my home?

Unfortunately, we cannot arrange for you to meet every sitter before they are allowed access to your home. As stated above, each employee will receive the proper training before caring for your pets. Each employee had a thorough background check upon hire for your protection and ours, and Happy Tails is bonded and insured. Rest assured that only trained, trustworthy, and upstanding employees will be allowed access to your home.

How do you handle access to my home?

When you become a client, you will provide us with a key to your home. You will sign an agreement stating that we have permission to make copies of your key. Happy Tails Transport agrees to place only a unique identifying code on your keys. Your keys will not be marked with your name, address, or pet’s name to protect your home.  When not in use by an employee or prepared for use, your keys will be stored in a secure safe by Happy Tails Transport. Happy Tails Transport will automatically retain your keys at the end of each service period unless otherwise instructed.  The keys will be available for future service requests or emergencies as needed by you.

Can I book a visit with a sitter directly?

We ask that all services be requested through our client portal with the office. Our staff is not responsible for the schedule and may not be able to provide accurate scheduling information.

Can other people take care of my home, like cleaners, while you’re taking care of my pets?

Happy Tails does not job share and cannot provide services if we are not the only ones who have access to the property. Having somebody else on the property creates a liability for Happy Tails. If anything happens to your home, your pets, or your house is left unsecured, for example, Happy Tails may be held responsible and not covered by insurance in that case, even if the other party is at fault. We prefer to avoid the possibility of this conflict, so we ask that we are the only ones who will be allowed to enter the home while you are away.

What if I come home early or have to cancel services at the last minute?

We ask that you notify us as soon as possible if there needs to be a schedule change. We understand emergencies happen, but otherwise, 24-hour notice for dog walking clients and 48-hour for pet sitting clients will be required. We adhere to a strict policy of NO OVERBOOKING. Therefore, once you have contracted services, we will turn away business to accommodate your schedule. You will be charged for all visits without proper notice of cancellation.

What happens if my flight gets delayed?

Happy Tails will still have your house key on hand and always put the animal’s best interest first. If you are returning home later than expected due to unforeseen circumstances, Happy Tails will make sure that your pet(s) is safe and properly cared for until you return.

What happens in the event of severe weather?

Happy Tails Transport will still operate in all weather conditions. We will always do everything in our power to make it to all visits, regardless of inclement weather. However, in extreme cases that pose the possibility of a dangerous situation, the safety of our employees is our top priority. If we cannot safely make it to your home, we will notify you immediately and discuss further options.
